little green on my thumb. (happy you link up)

if anyone would've said, 'leah you will have little strawberries growing of your own.' i would've rolled my eyes, laughed sarcastically and psssshh'd at them.

boo. i'm sick. (healthy you, happy you thursday)

you know that feeling in your system that tells you to slow down a little, and rest because you have something yucky trying to attack you?
and you know how we ignore that feeling because we are so busy and life must be go, go, go?

well the germs won this time friends. and they are kicking my behind. since Saturday, i started feeling my throat closing up and as the week progressed my body just started shutting down. tuesday i left early from work and by tuesday night a full blown cold which might even be the flu took over. and that's how i've spent my days since tuesday night. in bed, with tea by my side and a sea of kleenex. i've been resting though, not doing a whole lot. thank goodness for leftovers and my kids being of age where they can bathe and change on their own. but enough about my sick woes, what about you?

have you been doing something for you to live happier and healthier? we want to know about it!

let lose. {healthy you, happy you thursday}

you know what, it's ten forty and i'm just here laying in bed thinking about this week. other than doing my own car inspection and oil change, cooking dinner every night, keeping my house clean AND putting together a bookshelf by myself with power tools and all. i know right, go women! not too much room for excitement is left.
however, i did notice a change in my attitude this week. i am by far the most impatient person you'd meet. i get hissy if twitter takes longer than ten seconds to load more tweets, it's pretty ridiculous. but this week, i've been more relaxed, more at ease. honestly i would love to tell you it's due to something specific or a new approach, but everything is the same as far as routine. i think it may just be getting older resulting in getting wiser? haha. thought i'd tell you instead of wiser i typed in wider. yeah we don't want that.

but seriously, i think life is too short to take it so seriously. nothing in this life is far too important to lose track of the beautiful things around us that happen every day. i know there have been days where because i was wallowing in self pity and bitterness, i wouldn't enjoy my child's laughter but instead would ask for them to be more quiet. probably not that nice either. that's a shame. losing that moment over something that doesn't really matter. let lose, be silly, enjoy the moment. who cares if the person is driving too slow? who cares if dinner got burnt, or if your child forgot to put their folder inside their backpack? nobody will die over it, but we will lose sight of the everyday joys if we choose to focus on the mishaps of life. take it from the girl who at worship practice takes dumb selfies.

date night. {healthy you, happy you thursday}

date nights are my absolute favorite. just me and my love out in the town painting the town red. not really, just dining out and enjoying each other's company, but you get the point.
on love day, we called some friends in high places aka little sister baby sat, and dolled up a little.

as our typical marriage goes, he had a place picked out, i scrunched my nose a little and chose to drive to downtown to look for something more... swanky. wrong choice. the place i wanted to dine in had shut down. the others were so dead, the ambiance would've ruined it. and we ended up driving around for an hour. finally, Red Lobster is where we decided to stuff our bellies at.
I love that man for trying to please me and put up with my ridiculousness.
But you know, I gotta say we laughed hard, ate deliciously and looked into each other's eyes.. yea not that. just laughed hard and ate deliciously.
one of the best date nights yet. it left my belly and heart full after an overwhelming week. sometimes you gotta take that time to enjoy your loved ones you know?

be well my soul. {healthy you, happy you thursday}

i think for a lot us women, everything else seems to come first. the kids, our husband, the house, the cooking...well you get the point. and we usually leave ourselves last. yes?
i'm the same way. not necessarily because i love to do it that way, but simply because other people/things need my attention. when it finally comes time for me there's so little time left and here's where i'm going to admit something that i don't really want to.
my time will be used for relaxing while i pin inspiration unto my boards, workout even if it's the most mediocre workout....but rarely do i use my little time to make sure my soul is well.
since my life is well blessed and not in need of anything, i don't feel the strong urgency to seek God's word unless it's at church and much less get on my knees to pray.
I've always been awkward at prayer and excuse, after excuse I leave at the bottom of my list.

But my God is a pursuer, and pursues His children with His relentless love. And this week I heard it louder.
I think my family heard it just as loud. As we began to draw near to God together, I felt my soul becoming more alive. Why is it that I let myself forget that so quickly?
And on my way to work yesterday morning, the sun shone signifying a new day, just like His mercies.

Bless the Lord o my soul,
Oh my soul worship His Holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
Worship His Holy name
